Similar to a mysterious island, it carved its 3000 year old history into tuff stone. The Etruscan town binds its name to the spectacular Duomo, the most grandiose evidence of medieval artistic creativity. Following the example of Michelangelo, we are going to be captured by Luca Signorelli's outstanding frescoes.
In Orvieto you could go up and down its tufa cliff: down the steps of St. Patrick's Well to a depth of more than 150 feet, experiencing the Purgatory legend or up the Torre del Moro, a perfectly oriented medieval tower which served as a compass to travelers of all ages. Orvieto is world famous for its wine, one of the oldest in Italy and especially appreciated during the Renaissance, when it was served on the tables of popes and princes.

ON THE TRACES OF THE ETRUSCANS IN ORVIETO.
The Etruscan Velzna was the main religious site of the Etruscan dodecapolis. Its Fanum Voltumnae, the sanctuary dedicated to god Vertumno, similar to the Roman Jupiter, was the place where the leaders of the twelve lucumonie or city-states met to celebrate sacrifices and make political decisions. Visiting its necropolis is an experience you cannot miss, as well as its museums rich in archeological finds unearthed during the various excavations of the territory. Our visit includes: Claudio Faina Archaeological Museum, one of the largest archaeological collections in Italy; the National Archaeological Museum with the extraordinary original frescoes coming from the Golini tombs; the "Crocefisso del Tufo" Necropolis, considered the "archive" of Velzna; the Belvedere Temple , whose foundation is still visible on the cliff of Orvieto.
